Fine art painting

Now this out of my whole year in college is the most difficult task I have done- eventually I got there.
This painting was done for an exhibition at the end of the college year (around June)
To do complete it I first did a very rough black and white version to get his features positioned.
I then blocked out the light and shade using simple shapes.
This then meant I could have a faint base and then really added fine detail with a very dark version of the same colour. Also I cannot stress enough to mix your own colours!! It makes life so much easier when your placing it on your canvas - so much more accurate.
But a bit of patience really pulls you through.
